1000 Kilometers south of Buenos Aires (or 20 hours by bus), at the shore of the giant bay of the Golfo Nuevo lies Puerto Madryn. Here I start my photogallery with the Península Váldez. Passing through Puerto Pirámides a dirt road leads to Punta Norte. From a view point one can observe elephant seals and sea lions. More in the south along the coast lies Punta Delgada, another colony of these mammals.

Puerto Pirámides is as well the starting point for boat tours to watch the whales (Ballena Franca Austral), which are giving birth to their babies in the Golfo Nuevo.

Another 200 Kilometers southwards from Puerto Madryn, lies the Natural Reservation of Punta Tombo. A big colony of Magellan Penguins is living there all year.
